Services KoaHanii Provides for Participants

Community Access & Social Participation

KoaHanii offers many ways for their participants to engage in community access services, allowing equal opportunities to learn like skills and participate in the community. Our people-centred approach means our care plans are tailored for each individual to maximise their potential, find hobbies, make friendships and develop lasting skills. These activities can be as simple as include going to your local café, joining a netball team, bushwalking with a friend, doing a craft class, getting work experience, or volunteering.

KoaHanii is currently in the process of establishing a local Community Day Centre that offers a range of services and spaces for participants and the general public to gain important life skills. This would make us the first of this type in our region.

The day centre will be comprised of different zones to offer a range of services to participants, such as a gaming zone designed to empower individuals to explore and interact with digital content, promoting independence, cognitive development and technological literacy. A kitchen will serve as a practical classroom where participants can learn essential cooking skills, and to engage in community outreach programs where meals cooked can be donated to those in need.

There are additional zones planned for the day centre and our aim is to facilitate an environment that encourages at-risk members of our community to work together. This will foster social interaction and allow the public to engage in activities that benefit our community as well as offering volunteering opportunities.

Assistance with Daily Life

Our support workers are all experts in providing exceptional support with daily living activities. This includes assistance with, or supervision of, personal tasks of daily life. For example:

Personal care supports may be required across a variety of settings. For example, a participant living alone in their own home, living with family or other people, when undertaking social, recreational, education or employment activities or during holidays away from home.

Respite Options

Short Term Accommodation, including respite, is support for when you need to live out of home for a short period. Short Term Accommodation funding can be used for respite to support you and your carers. This gives your carers a short break from their caring role.

Sometimes a short stay away from home:
